Exploring Florence!

The Tuscany region of Italy is breathtaking. Known for its vast amount of wineries it is also home to Florence, the capital of Tuscany and its largest, most populated city.

What To Do In Florence

1. Ponte Vecchio- a bridge lined with numerous retail shops, mostly fine jewelry. While the bridge is usually very crowded with tourists it is a must see in Florence. There are plenty of spots along the bridge where you can stop for a photo-op and see the beautiful Arno river.

2. Piazzale Michaelangelo- Climb the Michaelangelo Steps in Florence to get spectacular views of the entire city. One of the best lookouts in Florence. If you can, go right before sundown and you will see people all over with blankets and wine, relaxing and enjoying the sunset. It is a bit steep so just take note of that before you head over!

3. Duomo- If you want to go into the Cathedral and especially climb the Dome, you must get tickets in advance. The lines are extremely long in the popular, tourist months. By climbing the Dome, you will get great views of the city from up high!

4. Boboli Gardens- If you are looking for a peaceful and serene area to walk around and explore in Florence where you dont feel like your in a crowded, big city, check out the Boboli Gardens. For a small fee, you can enter and explore the gardens, which from my experience was not very busy. This open air museum has varies statues, fountains and sculptures

5. San Lorenzo Market- A great place to grab lunch is the San Lorenzo market. Filled with numerous cafes and restaurants its a perfect spot to grab food and relax. The market is also a great place to find souvenirs and leather goods in the outdoor section of the market.

Good Eats

I also highly recommend taking a cooking class while in Italy. You can find authentic pizza and pasta all over the country but nothing can compare to making your own homemade Italian feast! I highly recommend TuscanBites Pasta Cooking Class. It comes with a three-course meal you prepare with a chef as well as an unlimited wine while cooking and eating! Was my favorite meal and one of my most memorable experiences I had while in Italy!

Gusta Pizza

If you are a fan of Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, definitely check out Gusta Pizza in Florence.
This little hole-in-the-wall pizza shop was featured on the show and was probably the best pizza I have ever had!

And, again, EAT LOTS OF GELATO!!!
